Tuxedo Nails Tutorial

Difficulty - Beginner

As soon as I saw Zooey Deschanel rocking Tuxedo Nails at the Golden Globes I grabbed my camera and started making this tutorial. I love it when celebs rock nail art! Bring it to the mainstream, Zooey! It's such a cute way to make your nails "formal" for such a fancy event. This is a similar look to the one seen on the Ruffian Fall '11 runway. Lucky for you guys, it's really easy to re-create!

All you need for this tutorial is a good white polish (I used Konad Special Polish in White, but I suggest Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Whirlwind White) and a black polish. I used Beauty UK in Black.

Tips & Tricks

  • To make the V's for the bow tie, use a thin brush. For the rest use a dotting tool, or the end of a bobby pin.
  • Make sure your bow tie is dead center. My first time I was doing it from an angle and I ended up with a very lopsided tux!
  • To do the black tip use your normal nail polish brush and just treat it like a french manicure. But reaaaally skinny!
